Old Age Psychiatry
and Psychotherapy

The Bernese Society for Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (BEGAP) is the interest group of the medical and interdisciplinary senior staff of old-age psychiatry institutions in the Canton of Bern, together with the practitioners in private practice who hold the subspecialty.

Mission

BEGAP represents the interests of old-age psychiatry, of its patients and their relatives, and fosters cooperation among the institutions in the Canton of Bern.

Responsibilities

Our responsibilities

As a professional association, BEGAP carries out the following tasks in the Canton of Bern.

Representing the interests of old-age psychiatry, its patients and their relatives vis-à-vis the authorities and the public.

Exchange of views among members and promotion of cooperation between the institutions.

Position statements on current topics in old-age psychiatry.

04

Advising the Canton of Bern on matters of old-age psychiatry.

05

Delivering postgraduate training in accordance with the FMH/SIWF training regulations.

Membership

Become a member

Membership is open to anyone who holds or is working towards the subspecialty in old-age psychiatry and psychotherapy, as well as to specialists from other disciplines in old-age psychiatry institutions who make a substantial contribution to psychiatric care in the Canton of Bern.

Members meet at least four times a year in plenary session.

17 August 2026, in person in Thun – including intervision.
