Old-age psychiatric care in the Canton of Bern comprises inpatient, day-clinic, outpatient and outreach services of public and private institutions – as well as the interfaces with long-term care, home care (Spitex) and family medicine.

University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ)
Formed on 1 July 2026 from the merger of UPD and PZM Münsingen – University Clinic for Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy; inpatient, day-clinic, outpatient and outreach at the Bern (Waldau) and Münsingen sites.
Psychiatric Services Thun
STS Hospital – outpatient and day-clinic old-age psychiatry for the Thun region and the western Oberland.

fmi Hospitals, Unterseen – inpatient and outpatient care incl. Memory Clinic.
Psychiatric Services Langenthal
SRO Ltd (Oberaargau Regional Hospital) – outpatient and day-clinic psychiatric care in the Oberaargau.
Psychiatric Services Burgdorf
Emmental Hospital – psychiatric service with outpatient unit and day clinic for the Emmental region.
Psychiatric Services Biel-Seeland-Bernese Jura
Réseau Santé Mentale Bienne–Seeland–Jura bernois – bilingual psychiatric care for the Biel region.
Wyss Private Clinic
Old-age psychiatry in Münchenbuchsee; outpatient units in Bern and Biel.
Meiringen Private Clinic
Centre for Old Age Psychiatry – inpatient incl. emergency admissions and an old-age psychiatry day clinic.
Outpatient care is complemented by physicians in private practice holding the subspecialty in old-age psychiatry and psychotherapy (directory: doctorfmh.ch). Consultation and liaison services in residential and nursing homes are offered in particular by the UPZ.
